Encouraging Promises of God to Believers

I enjoy studying Scripture to discover how I can be more like Christ.

But sometimes, I just need to soak up the goodness of God.

I revel in his promises to believers – promises that, as God, he can always be trusted to fulfill. I appreciate that he included so many in Scripture, revealing his paternal, eternal, merciful, faithful love for us.

These promises particularly encouraged me today, and I hope they will raise your spirits as well!

Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. – Isaiah 41:10
I the Lord have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee. – Isaiah 42:6a
Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not. – Jeremiah 33:3
The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee. – Jeremiah 31:3
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. – Matthew 11:28
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. – John 14:3
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. – John 14:27
For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more. – Hebrews 8:12
To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. – Revelation 3:21

Which of these promises mean the most to you? Is there another promise of God that you cherish? Please share in the comments.IMG_0270 - Copy flattened

  1. When I’m involved in a funeral service, a go-to reading for me is John 14:3. It speaks of the hope we have of an existence beyond this human journey. Also, I do wish more people would take Matthew 11:28 to heart and find the rest they so obviously need. Psalms 23 and 27 (“Of whom shall I be afraid?) are also favorites.

    1. In the first Christian workout videos I did as a teenager, the instructor always concluded with that verse. I thought it was such a great reminder that ultimately, God will perfect us in all ways, if we are walking with him.

This one 💗 We hear “God loves you” so much that we rarely let it sink in. But when you add “lovingkindness” then the word takes on a whole new meaning!! He draws us in with kindness. This kindness is what helps us feel loved.
