Pass a Roll, Please – and Share Some Joy, Too!

Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. – Matthew 5:14

In these toilet-paper-hoarding times, we Christians have an opportunity to share a roll. (Depending upon the situation in your community, that may literally be true.)

I’ve been reminding myself, that not only should we not be as reactive as much of the world right now, but we should also be proactive in kindness, patience, and tolerance.

We should radiate good humor and joy, as the city on a hill of which Christ spoke in Matthew 5.

We should live according to our trust in God’s promise: even when times change, he will not.

It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. – Lamentations 3:22, 23

Our dear Father who controls all is still the source of all the best within us: our strength, compassion, and hope.

God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; neither is worshipped with men’s hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things; and hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation; that they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us: for in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring. Acts 17-24-28

Let’s remember to shine with the light of Jesus. “Pass a roll” today.

Have you been afforded unique ministry opportunities in these difficult times? I would love to hear from you.

  1. Wonderful! This brought a joyful laugh out of me this morning, thank you. I was able to find a 4 pack yesterday while picking up meds for one my flock. I’m keeping it in the car (not for me!) in case I encounter someone who needs them while I’m out.
What you’ve written has reminded me of what the Apostle Paul wrote in Galatians about living in the light of salvation: But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. (Galatians 5:22-23 NIV)
May we all exhibit the fruit of the Spirit today!

  2. Along with a roll and varied necessities, I think people will be looking for stability and order and reassurance, as well. I hope I contributed to that mission with a newspaper column I submitted yesterday and posted on my site. We will endure. All is well. God is good. — Mike
