Take Joy in Your Salvation!

When I read the Bible, I usually study particular words and phrases to clarify the meaning of a passage.

But when I noticed this verse several days ago, I soaked up the entire paragraph all at once and enjoyed thinking about it all day – no additional study needed.

I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels. – Isaiah 61:10

I revel in the images and emotions conjured by this verse – the joy and expectation of a wedding, the love radiating from bride and groom, and the beauty of the day.

How thrilling to imagine that we are the bride of Christ, loved so purely and powerfully by him, and clothed in gorgeous garments he has freely given us.

I often think of how sacrificially my husband loves me. To know that God loves me infinitely more than that is certainly cause for joy all the way to my soul!

Well said, Isaiah.

Have you had a particular verse fill you with joy recently? I welcome your comments.

  1. Because of ongoing domestic concerns, I have spent quite a lot of time lately praying about the necessity of taking up my cross and following Christ, and the fact that this particular cross is unavoidable. It therefore has given me great peace of mind to read the following familiar words: “. . . yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me. . .” We all face battles in our lives; it is so comforting to know we do not go to war alone, and that we will win if we stay the course. God bless– Mike
