Thank You, WordPress Community!

Since I began this blog about a year ago, my reasons for blogging have changed.

At first, I blogged to hone my writing skills. My freelance work is steady, but assignments are generally weeks apart. Blogging provided needed practice.

As well, my posts provided a way to extend a branch to a community of like-minded people. You see, my everyday world is small. My family and I live on the outskirts of a tiny, though charming, Midwestern farming town; although we wouldn’t exchange our acres of woods and fields for city life, we don’t have many opportunities to meet people who share our interests.

And then, through WordPress, so many lovely people entered my life. That’s you, friend! You have taken time to read, follow, and comment. Across thousands of miles, your words have uplifted me, challenged me, and blessed me.

Through your presence in my tiny corner of the blogosphere, you have encouraged me to invest sincere effort in blogging. I want to put forth my best writing efforts, whether I’m recounting a personal experience, sharing a poem, or discussing a passage from Scripture. In so doing, I have been reminded of the importance of both editing and accuracy, particularly when dealing with the Bible.

A desire for accuracy has led me to study the Scriptures more than I ever have. Although I attended a Christian grade school and college, and I’ve taught Bible classes for years, I rarely studied the Bible in a personal way that led not only to a greater knowledge of God, but to a deeper love for him.

And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. – Ephesians 3:19

And I owe a good deal of that spiritual fulfillment to you, friends.

Touching base with you, and spending more time with my Lord, have become my new and improved reasons for blogging.

Thank you! As Hebrews 10:24 says, your kind interest has “provoked (me) unto love and to good works.”

And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ. – Ephesians 4:11-13
