Nightly Prayers

You all were so kind regarding my poem, “The Gardener,” that I thought I’d share another recent piece.

I hope you’ll enjoy, and please feel free to share your thoughts and critiques in the comments.

Nightly Prayers

Kneeling by her window at night
Peering upward
She prays
Sky so high above her
Starrier the longer
She stays
Swath of thinnest dark
Holding back Heaven
She reaches
High to pull it aside
To see the golden Homeland beyond
She hopes
But the veil remains
For now she is meant to be earthbound
She sleeps
She dreams
